Bensham Children's Centre Opens
Bensham Children's Centre has been officially opened by the Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Maureen Chaplin.
The Centre will serve hundreds of local families, offering information and support services for children aged up to the age of five.
Designed as a friendly, relaxed and accessible space, the centre is a focal point for families to find out about local activity groups and all areas of children's health and development - from speech therapy and immunisations to healthy eating and starting school.
Families turned out for the official opening and to see hundreds of balloons released to the sound of an African choir.
Artwork featuring more than 200 local children's handprints and pictures was unveiled by the Mayor to mark the opening.
To find out more about Bensham Children's Centre please contact the team on 0191 4336453.
