An Outreach Programme is offered throughout the borough to enable people to access all of the Toy Library services at the times listed below. You can join the library, as well as loaning and returning toys during these sessions.

Gateshead Toy Library has now started this quality assurance award. There are seven sections in total, and we have two years to completely finish the project. The aim of the award is to support new and existing services in reviewing and developing their practices and making the library as efficient as possible for the community it works in. Section One has now been submitted and we are waiting for the results.

Parent membership:
£8 annual membership, £4.50 for six months

Organisation Membership:
eg. Out of School Clubs, childminders, parent & toddler groups
£10 annual membership

Can borrow 4 items for 4 weeks
Services Membership
£50 annual membership
Multi-members can use one card
Hiring charges do not apply
Can borrow 15 items at a time
Terms & Conditions:
It is expected that Toy Library Members:
- Register with a Children's Centre in Gateshead
- Are careful with the toys and equipment they borrow, making regular safety checks where necessary.
- Are aware that it is their responsibility to ensure that the toys and equipment is suited to the child's age and ability.
- Are open and honest regarding any losses or breakages of the loaned equipment and report these on return.
- Store equipment with adequate security.
- Check equipment to make sure all pieces are returned together.
- Return all toys and equipment on or before the due date and inform staff if they have any difficulty returning the toys and equipment.
- Ensure that all computer games, CDs and DVDs and books are not lent out to the public and that copies are not made of these items.
- Inform a member of staff of any changes in personal details (or professional details if it is a childcare provider).
The Toy Library reserves the right to withdraw membership from anyone who does not adhere to the above Terms and Conditions.
Gateshead Toy Library will not be held liable for any damage or injury to any property or person caused by inappropriate use or abuse of equipment on loan.
